    IS TELESCOPE ALSO FROM CHINA?

More than four thousand years ago, China was ruled by an emperor named Chan. He was an enlightened and inquisitive man. Everything interested Chan. He wanted to know the structure of mountains, what fish live in Chinese rivers, how plants grow. But most of all he was attracted by the stars. He watched the night sky for hours and marveled at his greatness and mystery.

    - A person never comprehend the secrets of heaven! - He said.

Chan had a wise adviser. At the imperial palace, he served as a lens grinder. Once he brought to Chan some kind of pipe with glass lenses and said:

    - This tool reveals the invisible.

Chan glanced at the sky through a pipe and was amazed. He saw thousands of stars that he had not seen with a simple eye before.

    - This is a miracle! - He exclaimed.

And since then, every night he looked at the stars in the pipe. He kept his observations secret.

“Knowledge adds power to the emperor, but harms his servants - they get out of hand...” - said Chan.

So the observations of the Chinese emperor remained unknown to anyone. He died. His pipe broke...

But maybe the story about the pipe of Emperor Chan was invented by dreamers? They so wanted to comprehend the secrets of heaven! They believed that it was possible ... And they were not mistaken.
